To draw, to paint in the forest is to extend the solitude to a whole sheltered, silent space where only the rustle of leaves or a few distant brushstrokes measure the dimension of silence. And there, in the shadow of this vast quietude, to retain the contours of a trunk, to follow the articulation of a branch, to unwind the complex skein of a bush, [...]
To draw, to paint in the forest is to extend the solitude to a whole sheltered, silent space where only the rustle of leaves or a few distant brushstrokes measure the dimension of silence. And there, in the shadow of this vast quietude, to retain the contours of a trunk, to follow the articulation of a branch, to unwind the complex skein of a bush, in order to let us feel beyond the tangle of these forms the mysterious and inhabited depth of the forest.

Here a dry pastel of 36 x 36 cm on a projection of acrylic in the center of a paper of 50 x 50 cm. I wanted to give the sensation of luminosity between the long tapered fingers of the tropical palms.. the dominant red colors to evoke the heat of a tropical forest.
