Artist Statement

The painting "Black Adam and Eve" depicts a beautiful woman and handsome man. In woman's hands, she holds an apple, symbolizing abundance, fertility and life. Her luxurious dress, embroidered with stones creates an impression of grandeur and beauty. Apples, inlaid with rhinestones, add vibrant accents, symbolizing not only physical beauty but also inner strength and passion.

The choice of a black skin man and woman to portray Adam and Eve can be highly significant. The artist aims to emphasize the universality of the human experience, showing that the story of Eve and Adam pertains to all people, regardless of their race or background. It is also an attempt to rethink traditional representations of biblical characters, expanding their cultural and ethnic boundaries.

In traditional understanding, Eve is associated with the fall from grace and the loss of innocence, whereas here she is depicted as a symbol of strength and vitality, enriched by cultural contexts and new meanings.

Thus, the artist not only reinterprets a well-known myth but also invites the viewer to reflect on deeper questions of identity, choice, and the meaning of life in its diversity.
