The pear is a symbol of love and motherhood. The symbolism originated from the shape of the pear, reminiscent of the beautiful curves of the female body.
The pear is a symbol of longevity in China. The reason for this was the amazing vitality of the pear tree, the average life expectancy of which is about a hundred years.
In ancient Greece, the pear also enjoyed well-deserved respect. Homer called it the food of the gods. The pear tree was dedicated to Hera, the wife of Zeus, the keeper of the hearth. Figurines of the goddess were carved from its wood.
In Christian countries, the feminine form was used by artists as an allegory associated with the foremother Eve.
