Marilyn Monroe (b. Norma Jeane Mortenson; June 1, 1926 – August 4, 1962[1]) was an American actress and model. Known for playing the "dumb blonde" characters in comedy films, the artist was one of the most famous movie stars and sex symbols of the 20th century. Despite only ten years as the lead actor, his films had grossed $200 million (equivalent to $2 billion in 2020) when he died unexpectedly in 1962.[2] It continues to be seen as a major popular culture icon.[3]

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Monroe spent most of her childhood in foster homes and an orphanage, and married at the age of sixteen. While working in a factory in 1944 as part of the war, she was introduced to a photographer from the First Motion Picture Unit and began a successful pin-up modeling career.
Onroe eventually became famous with the 1953 movie "Niagara". Critics focused on Monroe's compatibility with the camera as well as the film's dark script. Monroe played a woman who tries to kill her husband in this movie.

During this period, the sexy poses she once gave emerged. Monroe later managed to avoid a possible scandal that would end her career, saying that she posed nude to the press, saying that she was broke and starving. These poses were later published in the first issue of Playboy.

In the following months, Monroe became one of the A-class actors with the great success of her films "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and "How to Marry a Millionaire". While studying at the Actors Studio, Monroe met her third husband, writer Arthur Miller, and later married her.

While in New York, he founded his own production company, Marilyn Monroe Productions, with his friend, photographer Milton H. Greene.
"Some Like It Hot", directed by Billy Wilder in 1959, became Marilyn's most successful and most popular film in her career. Monroe won a Golden Globe Award for her acting in this movie. However, behind the scenes events, as well as the great success of the film and Monroe, also began to surface in this period. Especially Monroe's constant late arrival on the set, his inability to remember his lines, his refusal to take part in the shooting by not leaving his room from time to time, caused great conflicts with the director Billy Wilder. Apart from these, Monroe, who discovered that she was pregnant during the filming, had a miscarriage after the completion of the film. The movie "Let's Make Love", which he made after this movie, was a critical and commercial failure. However, the song "My Heart Belongs to Daddy", which he sang in the movie, became a big hit. She also had a short affair with her co-star in this movie, Yves Montand.
