Assya Lucky was born in Leningrad. In 2009, she graduated from the Saint Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design with a degree in Design. During her studies, she actively participated in the city’s art scene: organizing and taking part in exhibitions at the Pushkinskaya-10 Contemporary Art Center, the Kino-Phot 703 Gallery, and the Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art.
From 2009 to 2018, she worked as a professional restorer of monumental oil painting under the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. She took part in the restoration of federal heritage sites such as the Naval Cathedral in Kronstadt, the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius in Sergiyev Posad, the Catherine Palace in Tsarskoye Selo, the Smolensk Cathedral, and other significant architectural monuments. She holds state certification as a professional restorer of monumental oil painting from the Russian Ministry of Culture.
Since 2018, she has been pursuing an active artistic practice in her own studio in Moscow, working with painting, sculpture, and texts on contemporary art. Assya Lucky’s works are distinguished by a synthesis of expressive figuration and subtle irony. Her visual language is inspired by the tradition of European modernism and her personal artistic exploration of animals as metaphors for human nature.
Since 2022, the artist has been actively traveling through Asia. In 2024, she was invited by the Paris Municipal Gallery of Contemporary Art to present a solo exhibition, which took place from November 28 to December 9 at Les Ateliers d’Artistes de Belleville. That same year, her works were also shown at a group exhibition at Gallery "81" in Tashkent. In 2025, her works were presented at the largest contemporary art project in Central Asia, “Regeneration,” and she also held a solo exhibition titled “And What Is This Race?” at the Ilkhom Gallery in Tashkent.
