"My Egypt" is the artist’s personal interpretation of the achievements of this enigmatic culture.
As is well known, animals held deep spiritual and symbolic significance for the ancient Egyptians — they were not only revered but also frequently used as artistic motifs. This work is executed in the stylistic language of ancient Egyptian reliefs.
Romanoff intentionally places the animals in a single, continuous line. One can observe how their forms flow into one another — the cat becomes a fox, and the fox transforms into a duck.
For the artist, this is a visual manifesto of the universality of living matter. Despite their outward differences, these beings are, in essence, “cut from the same cloth,” as Boris Pasternak once wrote.
They are expressions of the same life force, coexisting harmoniously within a single paradigm.
The idea of nature as an apophatic, unknowable essence — something we can sense but never fully grasp — continues to stir the human mind.
This work stands as a quiet witness to that enduring wonder.

Born and raised in Nizhny Novgorod, central Russia, I have been drawn to art from an early age. Shapes and colors captivated me deeply, almost like swords piercing my soul. During my childhood, I created numerous peculiar plasticine works, followed by a series of adolescent pieces made in art school and at home. I fell in love with watercolor. In 2021, I graduated from both high school and art school, but my life took an unexpected turn when I enrolled at SPSU (Saint Petersburg State University) to study linguistics, with a focus on Romance languages. This period made me realize once and for all that art and creation are my true vocation. Alongside my studies, I began attending a renowned local atelier of academic art. This is where the path of Anya Romanoff begins. The final years at university were marked by an explosion of artistic activity, and 2025 was a year of immense growth in my portfolio. From here on, the journey begins!
Currently I work with oil painting, clay and also knit, edit videos as a hobby.
