A woman’s eye peers out from behind a pleated sleeve that unfolds like the wing of a bird or the arc of a traditional fan. This close-up portrait blends a bold color language with a still, poised gesture that echoes Japanese aesthetics. The sleeve, both shield and symbol, evokes feathers, petals, and layered secrets. Through vivid contrasts and a sense of conciseness, the work explores the delicate tension between concealment and presence.

Anna Efremova (Perekrestova) is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, drawing, digital design and media installations.
Educated at the Stroganov Moscow State University of Arts and Industry and holding a Master’s degree from the University of the Arts London, she brings a deep academic and conceptual foundation to her practice.
Her background includes professional experience in graphic design, digital media, and stage design in theatres and broadcasting and production companies.
Her artistic language explores the emotional resonance between the human condition and natural forms. Her works have been exhibited in galleries in Moscow and London, and published in curated selections and academic contexts.
Anna is also interested in how visual structures — light, rhythm, space — can subtly shape emotional perception. This tension between natural expression and constructed illusion often appears metaphorically in her work. Her practice is rooted in deep introspection, often drawing from the silence between thoughts – where image becomes feeling, and perception becomes form. She sees each artwork not only as a visual object, but as a dialog between inner experience and the subtle rhythms of the natural world.
