Drawing has been and always will be highly integrated with the ideas my art is incrementally revealing to me - things like connection and immediacy and touch and relationship and rhythm and making bold marks... and then nearly totally erasing those marks so only ghosts or echoes remain - pentimento - that it ranks, for me, right at the top of the vehicles of visual artistic expression. For drawing myself out. For evidence of the artist's hand. For the connection back through what was held, to the hand, the arm, the shoulder, the back, the chest, the neck, the head, the eyes, the air, to that which was beheld. Beheld and yet barely comprehended, if comprehended at all. Just scratching the surface.

Andrew Ramiro Tirado è un artista americano contemporaneo noto per le sue diverse opere 2D e 3D. Nato a Washington DC nel 1968, è cresciuto e attualmente risiede in Colorado. All'inizio della sua carriera, dal 1989 al 1991, Tirado è stato assistente di studio per il famoso pittore Chuck Close a New York. Al suo ritorno in Colorado, si è dedicato a vari mestieri, tra cui la costruzione di canoe in strisce di legno, la fabbricazione di oggetti di scena e set personalizzati e la creazione di mobili personalizzati.

Per oltre due decenni, Tirado ha contribuito al Summer Seminar Program della Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation come parte della facoltà del seminario. Ha anche insegnato presso istituzioni rispettate come la Bemis School of Art e l'Anderson Ranch Arts Center e ha trascorso dieci anni al Colorado College, insegnando lavorazione del legno e supervisionando la 3D Arts Facility.

Tirado è passato a una pratica artistica a tempo pieno nel 2012, ottenendo riconoscimenti attraverso mostre. Nel 2014, ha tenuto una mostra personale, Open , al Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, dove la sua opera Lacuna ha vinto sia il premio Jurors' Choice che il Peoples' Choice alla 16a mostra annuale Art on the Streets Exhibit a Colorado Springs. La sua carriera artistica a tempo pieno è decollata nel 2016, con un notevole periodo di volontariato in Italia per la 15a mostra internazionale della Biennale di Architettura di Venezia.

Nel 2020, ha fondato un nuovo studio di 1.000 piedi quadrati nel centro di Colorado Springs e nel 2021 ha completato il suo progetto più grande, Highlight , un'installazione d'arte pubblica a Tulsa, Oklahoma. L'anno seguente, ha lavorato come artista in residenza presso la Holland Hall School di Tulsa, esponendo il suo lavoro in una mostra personale presso la Holliman Gallery. Continuando a produrre pezzi commissionati e indipendenti, Tirado ha in programma una mostra personale per novembre 2024 presso la Surface Gallery di Colorado Springs.
