Andrei Dukhounikau

Andrey Dukhovnikov is a professional artist from Vitebsk.

He came to Belarus from Kazakhstan.

For him, Vitebsk is a constant source of energy. He rejects boundaries, but, traveling the world, he always returns to Vitebsk.

Many of the artist's graphic works are dedicated to the city. Often it is Vitebsk, sometimes – other cities of Belarus, Poland, Germany... what memory suggests. These urban landscapes cannot be called classic “genuine” sketches from nature. Rather, it is the creation of images of the city, its moods using elements of mimesis.

The characters in the artist's paintings live through the development of their own stories, and the viewer is always interested in figuring something out.

The artist’s work with the composition is interesting. The space of a graphic sheet is a field of dynamic coexistence of objects and the intervals between them. This sets the rhythm of the composition, shows the strength and richness of the forms.

Free space (air) is an active element of a work; figurativeness, in its turn, materializes the creative potential of the white surface, the artist's composition is realized with the complex interaction of the visible and invisible elements.
