This work is one of the first in a series of paintings he has done about the popular lifestyle product SUV. The series is called ‘SUV - Sowas Unnötig Von’, which is his humouristic explanation in slightly twisted word order. Generally translated, it means ‘Totally Unnecessary’. This scene shows the fuel version of the SUV archetype, which also appears in other works. The vehicle is parked in a dry lake in a hot landscape. The driver is enjoying the view from an air-conditioned glass cube that can be lifted out of the vehicle with a crane. The saturated colors and controlled lighting give his work an expressive depth, often striking a surreal or even melancholic tone that suits contemporary themes.

Alexander Grimm, a graphically seasoned artist, harnesses oil on self-crafted wooden canvases, drawing from his graphic design expertise. His techniques blend classical oil mastery with innovative 3D modeling, creating a bridge between digital precision and painterly expression. He was born in Graz, Austria. Trained as a graphic designer at HTBLVA Ortwein art school in Graz between 1989 and 1994 with 5 years of training in painting. Commercial activity as an employed graphic designer between 1995 - 2002. Self-employed since 2002 and working as a free painter since 2015 in Vienna.
