My name is Alessia, I am Italian, I live in Berlin, and I have been a full-time artist since February 2023.
My tool is the pencil, and my main interest lies in realistic portraiture.

MY ART
Around these two cornerstones, I experiment with various media—mainly colored markers and gold leaf—which introduce recurring elements like dots, curls, and circular forms. These often intertwine with the portrait, creating surreal-magical scenarios within realism. This dual approach reflects the ambivalence in my personality, leading both my art and growth to progress side by side. My main themes are human ambivalence and self-exploration.

HOW I STARTED
My journey began at 15, when my father brought home a wooden easel from Porta Portese in Rome. Since then, I’ve constantly created, filling every space with paintings and drawings.

EDUCATION
I never actively pursued the art market. My education evolved in a self-taught, independent way. I occasionally sold works through word of mouth or commissions. Meanwhile, I earned a degree in Sociology with a specialization in Communication and Media at La Sapienza University in Rome. I later worked as a web designer for Matematici.srl and studied design at IED. In 2011, I visited a friend in Berlin and decided to move a month later, working independently.

THE PENCIL
In Berlin, I lived in a nearly empty apartment—no space for oil paints or easels. All I had was a pencil: light, inexpensive, always within reach. It became my tool, and I grew passionate about it.

COLLABORATIONS
In Berlin, I focused entirely on art and secured several collaborations. One was with FM Architettura (Italy) for regular pencil drawings. Another with RBA Branding & Design (Milan) led to Le donne, a pencil series for Terza Rima craft beer labels. Meanwhile, I worked as a freelance web designer for Parkinglist, a startup.

THE NOVEL
Since 2012, I’ve been registered with KSK (German social security for artists). In 2017, I published a novel titled Gente di Berlino under the pseudonym Amanda Greco (Ouverture Edizioni). Though writing may seem separate, it’s often linked to my visual art—some stories inspire drawings, and vice versa.

FROM MOTHERHOOD TO TODAY
After publishing my novel, I became a mother of two and took a break to dedicate myself to family. In February 2023, I resumed working, leaving web design to focus entirely on art. Since October 2023, I’ve been on Saatchi Art, and some works were sold on Catawiki Contemporary Art Auction. From January to July 2024, I joined Art Up Now, funded by the European Social Fund and Berlin Senate, aimed at improving artists' professionalism. As part of this, I exhibited in Wille oder Wahl at Kunstquartier Bethanien. Since then, I’ve regularly participated in exhibitions and events across Berlin.
