Origins and History
The Neo-Expressionist movement was an important period in the history of contemporary art, emerging in the 1980s as a response to the cool detachment of Minimalism and Conceptual Art. Artists associated with this movement, such as Julian Schnabel and Anselm Kiefer, sought to convey a more emotional and visceral form of expression through their works, which often featured bold, gestural brushstrokes and intense, heavily layered compositions. Notable original contemporary World Culture artworks
One of the most iconic contemporary World Culture artworks is "The Persistence of Memory" by Salvador Dali, created in 1931.
