Что такое древние иудеи? Дикие горцы, обычные пастухи-мясоеды. Как все дикари, они были зациклены на страхе перед верховной силой, на поклонении ей. Как все горцы, с особой неистовостью молились этому так или иначе названному богу (или богам). Посмотрите, например, на мусульман...
Чем больше цивилизации, просвещения, тем поклонения меньше; и у равнинных земледельцев ретивости меньше... Но иудеи при этом были ещё и сильно грамотными! Видимо, это египетское (и вавилонское?) наследство, там научились и полюбили читать и писать. Великая польза от плена... Тем более, что изначально по воле случая были в этом плену евреи большие начальники...
Ничего другого не надо искать в библии! Вся "богоизбранность" - это всего лишь их самомнение, заурядный национализм, тоже поголовно присущий любым дикарям - и прежде всего горцам. Не считая исторических летописей, нет в библии ничего, кроме требования поклонения верховному существу - и морального наборчика. Не думаю, что этот наборчик является их гениальным изобретением (тем более, что они ему ни разу и не следовали! - убивали, например, за милую душу, как и все прочие народцы). Все более или менее понимают, что убивать, воровать и так далее - нехорошо. Ведь иначе жить мирно будет невозможно...
Получается, "богоизбранность" - это сумасшествие! И раз уж ты сошел с ума, то и дальше всё будет в психованной манере - это я уже о христианстве, о намерении то ли от чего-то "спастись", то ли стать какими-то "богами" (с огненными языками на головах!)
Ведь дело в том, что во времена римской империи этим диким, но грамотным горцам пришлось туго: как верить в свою избранность, когда ты на задворках, в жопе и когда грамотностью никого не удивишь?! Может, они - всего лишь чокнутые пастухи?! Ведь у них уже 400 лет даже никаких "пророков" нет! 400 лет! Ничего не происходит, только народ нищает, а попы богатеют. Кругом цветет и пахнет Антика, а у них даже никаких новых примечательных книжек не пишется. И нет никаких побед. Вот и ухватились за "мессию", чтобы обновить свою "богоизбранность". Но ухватились лишь немногие, потому как народ уже закоснел, стал типичным консерватором - а с другой стороны предпочел обычную войну, бунт, восстания... Вот от чего "спасались" - от потери "богоизбранности", от растворения в эллинизме...
Соответственно, их "спасение" обернулось новой гибелью, новым градусом чокнутости - новой гордыней... В эллинизме не растворились, но породили мракобесные "средние века", как "богоизбранные" сжигали "еретиков"...

There is no need to look for anything else in the Bible! All the “chosenness of God” is just their conceit, ordinary nationalism, also inherent in all savages - and above all, mountaineers. Apart from historical records, there is nothing in the Bible except the demand for worship of a supreme being - and a moral compilation. I don’t think that this set is their brilliant invention (especially since they never followed it! - they killed, for example, for a sweet soul, like all the other people). Everyone more or less understands that killing, stealing, and so on is not good. After all, otherwise it will be impossible to live peacefully...
It turns out that “God’s chosenness” is madness! And since you’ve already gone crazy, then everything will continue to be in a psychotic manner - I’m talking about Christianity, about the intention either to “save yourself” from something, or to become some kind of “gods” (with by tongues of fire on heads!)
After all, the fact is that during the times of the Roman Empire, these wild but literate mountaineers had a hard time: how to believe in your chosenness when you are on the outskirts, in the ass and when you won’t surprise anyone literacy?! Maybe they are just crazy shepherds?! After all, they haven’t even had any “prophets” for 400 years! 400 years! Nothing happens, only the people become poor, and the priests get richer. Antica blooms and smells all around, and they don’t even write any new noteworthy books. And there are no victories. So they grabbed hold of the “Messiah” in order to renew their “God’s chosenness.” But only a few grabbed hold of it, because the people had already become rigid, became typical conservatives - and on the other hand, they preferred an ordinary war, rebellion, uprisings... This is what they were "saved" from - from the loss of "God's chosenness", from dissolution in Hellenism...
Accordingly, their “salvation” turned into a new death, a new degree of crazy - a new pride... They did not dissolve in Hellenism, but gave birth to the obscurantist “Middles Ages”, as “God’s chosen ones”, they burned “heretics”...
