Michal Andreevich Кarpuk

Various graphic and oil-painted landscapes created by the famous Belarusian
graphic artist and painter Michal Andreevich Кarpuk raise insistently the
question on the national school of Belarusian landscape and reflect its state at
the present stage. In spite of the extensive map of the geographic routes of the
artist, who has travelled over the most part of European Russia, Usbekistan,
Caukasia, Crimea, Moldeva, Ukraine, Baltic republic, Poland, etc., he has abided
by the Belarusian nature known since the childhood.
"I have the sole love in the arts, says Mikhal Karpuk. I paint only unique
landscape of native Belarus."
Indeed, the artist's inclination to landscapes of the Motherland cannot fail
to touch. He painted many times the landscapes of Brest, Grodno, Homel, Vitebsk
and Minsk regions, many hundreds of sketches, drawings, and complicated
composition solutions.
The attract the creator in the right way, and being reflected in masterly
fashion on canvas or graphic sheets, they make the viewer to experience again and
again the feeling of Motherland.
The best works created by M.Karpuk were exhibited at the personal exhibitions
in Minsk, Brest, Vysokaye, Bobrujsk, Mazyr, Polack, Ushacy, Grodno. They were seen
by inhabilitants of Lithuania (Panevezis, Shaulai, Shilale), Poland ( Bielastok,
Gdansk, Gdynia, Sopot, Torun), Sweden (Alwesta).
Michal Karpuk was born in 1930 in Brest region, in a small picturesque village
Mykshycy that is near the borough of Vysokaye, where the ruins of an ancient castle
and wonderful park have remained to our time.
He studied at Minsk School of Arts (1948-1950 and 1953-1956) and then in Moscow
Polygraphic institute (1956-1962).
Michail Andreevich has devoted 25 years to the creative work as art director
of Belarussian television and cinema. He has designed artistically a great number
of telecasts, perfomances, cinema and concert programmes, and television
perfomances.
Acting as an art director, M.Karpuk took part in creation of feature serials at
the "Belarusfilm" Film Studio (1972-83)
Long-term work of Mr.Mikhal Karpuk at the "Belarusfilm" Film Studio has hot
passed without leaving a trace for him. It helped him to develop the composition
mastery, see skilfully the landscape "in depth", in the spase, in the riches of
details, to find motives, to achieve the artistic perfection of the works.
The various works created by M.Karpuk give us the joy and feeling of very
serious, deep and significant thing - contakt with the native nature, immortal
image of Motherland.
