For more than fifty years now, Maroun El Hakim has been moving between painting and sculpting with the same natural ease and especially with the same love. He is not a painter or a sculptor, he is both. His relation with color is vital while his work is a continuous elaboration of the techniques and potentials of matter. He never stops experimenting textures and mediums of expression whether in acrylics, watercolors, oils, pastels or gouache while he breathes into them the richness and passionate variations of his soul and spirit. He never forgets in the game of lines and virtual volumes that he is also a sculptor.
