« À la recherche de la nouvelle superstar psychédélique » est la plus grande oeuvre, spatialement parlant, du peintre français Eric Bourdon. Réalisée sur une toile de lin "flottante", elle pend comme une tapisserie !
L'improvisation est la seule règle du jeu, comme pour les autres toiles. Les dessins improvisés sont faits à la craie, la peinture vient petit à petit... Et d'un seul coup nous voilà avec un groupe de musiciens, un genre de 'big band' de rock and roll ou de 'big band' folk...?
Ce sera peut-être finalement une sorte de "fête de la musique", dont le titre évoque une compétition de "télé-realité". Chanteurs et joueurs de différents instruments révèlent leurs talents et rivalisent de créativité dans une forêt pour déterminer quelle sera la plus grande star.
Le terme "psychédélique" fait référence au fonctionnement du cerveau dans l'usage de drogues hallucinogènes qui mobilisent (involontairement) les lobes temporaux qu'on utilise également (en toute conscience cette fois) dans l'improvisation graphique. C'est le processus appelé la "paréidolie" par lequel nous identifions, ou imaginons, des personnages ou des scènes significatives en regardant un contenu visuel flou ou chaotique comme par exemple des nuages, la surface d'un tronc d'arbre, des taches d'encre... La grande star "psychédélique" qui est recherchée sera alors le meilleur personnage improvisé de cette façon.
La toile de lin (600g/m²), dont chaque côté est parcouru de 9 oeillets métalliques situés à 1-1,5cm des bords, est fixée en haut par des pitons équerre à vis sur une barre de bois qui s'accroche au mur à l'aide de seulement 2 points de fixation, distants l'un de l'autre de 1,5m exactement, à une hauteur de 2,10m ou plus.
La toile est expédiée roulée dans un tube en PVC à l'intérieur d'une boîte en carton.

"Looking for the new psychedelic superstar" is the largest work by the French painter Eric Bourdon. Created on a "floating" linen canvas, it hangs like a tapestry !
Improvisation is the only rule of the game, as with the other paintings. The improvised drawings are made with chalk, the paint comes little by little... And all of a sudden we find ourselves with a group of musicians, a kind of rock and roll 'big band' or maybe a folk 'big band'...?
Perhaps it’ll ultimately be a sort of "music festival", whose title evokes a "reality television" competition. Singers and players of different instruments reveal their talents and compete in creativity in a forest to determine who will be the biggest star.
The term "psychedelic" refers to the functioning of the brain in the use of hallucinogenic drugs which mobilize (involuntarily) the temporal lobes which are also used (this time consciously) in graphic improvisation. This is the process called "pareidolia" by which we identify, or imagine, significant characters or scenes by looking at blurry or chaotic visual content such as clouds, the surface of a tree trunk, ink stains... The big "psychedelic" star that is sought after will then be the best character improvised in this way.
The linen canvas (600g/m²), each side of which is covered with 9 metal eyelets located 1-1,5cm from the edges, is fixed at the top by square bend screw hooks on a wooden bar which hangs on the wall using only 2 fixing points, exactly 1,5m apart from each other, at a height of 2,10m or more.
The canvas is shipped rolled in a PVC tube inside a cardboard box.
