Martine Lafont is a contemporary French artist who graduated from both the École des Beaux-Arts and the Métiers d'Arts in Paris. She began her career creating monumental murals for theater plays and public architecture projects before branching out into stage and exhibition design, events, and visual communication. Today, she is dedicated entirely to her first passion: painting.

Lafont spent her childhood in France and later lived in Iran and Argentina, experiences that deeply influenced her artistic perspective. These years abroad instilled in her a strong attraction to the unknown and a love for diversity, elements that are consistently reflected in her work.

In her paintings, Lafont draws on simple and raw emotions, often eschewing the explicit presence of characters. The power of her art lies in the absence of men and women, their intimacy protected, their fleeting presence merely suggested. This theme is particularly evident in her series of beds, where the absence of the sleepers invites viewers to ponder their stories. She captures the "angels' share," the essence of evaporated yet condensed life, where only the shadows of our gestures and escapes remain within the frame.

Elusiveness is central to Lafont's current work. She is inspired by the fleeting views from a train window, where the world whirls away at high speed. The subject has no time to strike a pose, and an easel is rendered useless in this context. At 320 km/hour, Lafont captures unique layouts that will never reappear, emphasizing the transient nature of these moments. Lafont skillfully mixes oils and acrylics, kneading the colors into a sophisticated pulp with a deep respect for graphical art.
