Originaire de Boulogne sur mer , installé dorénavant à Houplines , près de Lille , Alain Ravaut a suivi une formation artistique en Angleterre ( école de portraits ) , puis aux Beaux-arts de Boulogne sur mer , où pendant une trentaine d'années il a fréquenté les ateliers de Jacques Salvignol (dessin , peinture ) , de Marc Butti ( sculpture ) et d'André Marsy ( gravure ). Artiste polymorphe ,il prend le même plaisir à s'exprimer à travers le dessin , l'huile ou l'acrylique , l'argile et le bronze .( Fondeur autodidacte, il réalise d'ailleurs lui-même ses bronzes depuis une quinzaine d'années ...S'inspirant souvent de modèles vivants , il aime également mettre en scène ses personnages , souvent féminins , dans des toiles figuratives et expressionistes .Ses sculptures , également expressionistes , se teintent parfois d'une touche fantastique.
Nombreuses expositions personnelles (Wimereux , Marquise , Calais ,Gravelines , Honfleur , Bondues , Wambrechies , Dunkerque ,Villeneuve d'Ascq ) et collectives .
