1° Bernard Salomon en 1557 à Lyon : Térée viole Philomela, gravure sur bois conservée à la Médiathèque centrale de Montpellier, cote C189, fonds Cavalier.
2° Pablo Picasso, non daté : Lutte entre Térée et Philomela, gravure présente à la Franklin Bowles Gallery à San Francisco, baer 154, bloch 110.
Sur les quatre personnages présents sur le tableau : gauche : initialement c’était un satyre à figures noires. Milieu gauche : La femme, un genou à presque terre était Cassandre violée (présente sur une hydrie attique 490 avant J-C.) Milieu droit : l’homme agenouillé était initialement un esclave égyptien, au crâne rasé et aux traits négroïdes, circoncis et battu par Héraclès dans le combat contre les serviteurs de Busiris, d’où sa pose équivoque d’après une peinture à figures rouges sur vase pélikè par le Peintre de Pan 470 avant J-C. A droite: la femme est une Ménade visible à Munich au Antikensammlungen, n° 2344. Le chien est dans la présentation habituelle des chiens étrusques rehaussé par l’artiste. Les lettres : Tereus, dans le tableau sont dans la lignée de l’écriture étrusque, soit en boustrophédon : de droite à gauche sur la première ligne, de gauche à droite s’il y a une ligne suivante etc. Le Monogramme de Philhelm et la signature parachèvent l’œuvre.
Ménade : femme possédée, adoratrice de Dionysos, qui personnifie les esprits orgiaques de la nature.

In truth, I am writing this to you without lying, the whole story of Philhelm begins in Alsace at the castle of Lichtenberg, on April 23, 1616, when Balthasar Helmlinger, aged 7, lost the Monogram of his eponymous descendant. This banal and nevertheless extremely serious incident in the distant past, will trigger the artistic vocation of one of his descendants, 10 generations later!
This painter of today, born in Strasbourg in 1943, has seen his work exhibited and awarded twice in his life (1999 and 2001), and this, only at the “International Biennale of Contemporary Art of Florence” which gave him awarded the City of Florence Prize in 1999.
So that the vulgum pecus is totally disoriented from its experience, that it lets history enter into it without haste, enriched every day by our common ancestral past: whether it is Etruscan, Minoan or Babylonian, otherwise it will never penetrate into inside the paintings, to try to discover the secret causes of things.
