Paul Sarrassat is a contemporary French artist, known for his diverse career spanning graphic design, illustration, and personal artistic creations. He studied at the Beaux-Arts of Clermont-Ferrand from 1964 to 1970, where he obtained three state diplomas in engraving, painting, and decoration. After his formal education, Sarrassat pursued a career as a graphic designer and illustrator, publishing numerous works in both national and international magazines such as Revue d'Art Moderne, Horizons du Fantastique, Graphis Design International, Libération, Elle, and Marie-Claire. His talents also led him to work on decorative projects, including for the Clermont-Ferrand Opera and the city of Vichy, where he began his career by painting movie posters at a young age.
As a graphic designer, Sarrassat created several CD covers for American artists and was commissioned by couturiers like Courrèges and Castelbajac to design a special stationery collection. He also worked with the National Museums to develop materials for their bookstores and created numerous logotypes for various brands and organizations.
Since 2005, Sarrassat has focused on his personal artistic works, using a mixed technique on mounted paper. Although his style is not figurative, his art draws inspiration from nature, reflecting its abundance, energy, and continuous cycle of renewal. His repetitive and colorful compositions evoke the vitality and eternal rebirth of the vegetal world, offering a deep connection to the essence of life.
