Victor Molev
Victor Molev is a contemporary award-winning Canadian artist. He is working in the styles of Decorative Realism, Fantasy, Symbolism and Surrealism. In the mid-1970s, as an aspiring young artist, he took drawing and painting lessons under the apprenticeship of Moscow sculptor Tatyana Vishnyakova. But it wasn’t until his early twenties that Molev became familiar with the works of Salvador Dali, Max Ernst, Rene Magritte, M.C. Escher and Frank Frazetta through books and magazines. Molev was incredibly inspired by these artists which became like mentors to him.
After receiving an education in architecture, the artist worked in the field for ten years. He then worked as a set designer at the Pushkin Opera and Ballet Theater. Both of these jobs are still reflected in the creative processes of the artist. He has created his own unique and intuitive world of dreams and absurdity. His works are sincerely naive and kind.
Victor Molev was born in 1955, in Gorky, Russia. His works were exhibited all over the world, including the Art Museum of Saint-Frajou, France. Molev has also participated in numerous international competitions of humorous drawing, and won numerous silver and bronze medals.

Amicalement. Gaby
Sehr geehrter Herr Molev,
Completed in 1959 and kept hidden from the Soviet secret police for two decades, THE ROSE OF THE WORLD was first publicly shared through excerpts in the magazine Novy Mir in 1989. This unique and poetic cosmological treatise, written passionately from personal spiritual experience, calls prophetically for the spiritual reunification of humanity and promotes an open and harmonious relationship among the major world religions. For Daniil Andreev, the Rose of the World is a spiritual flower rooted in heaven; each petal represents a unique image of the great world religions and cultures, with the entire flower symbolizing their collaborative creation with God. This work stands within Russian religious thought in the tradition of Vladimir Soloviev and in the West's tradition of Dante and Blake.
Dear Mr. Molev,
When looking at your work of art, I noticed the numerous interesting details and the meaningful development of the colors.
The depiction captures my attention and invites me to move in my imagination through the streets and alleys depicted.
It gives me the feeling as if I were exploring ideas of different levels of existence that are floating deep in my soul.
I really enjoyed looking at this work of art and find it extremely inspiring.
With best wishes for your continued creativity, Alexandra Busch
I was not familiar with the literary work “Rose of the World” - I have taken the liberty of attaching a short summary by the publisher of this book here for all those who, like me, are interested but have not yet come into contact with it.
