The internet has been a great friend to me.
It has allowed me to keep in touch with loved ones,
meet new friends, and learn so many new things.
Do you spend a lot of time online? I do.
Well at least I consider 2 to 3 hours per day a lot.
I just came back from a short two weeks unplugged vacation.
Unplugged?
Yes, no mobile phones, no ipads, no virtual distractions.
Did I miss it?
Yes, In the first days I felt slightly crippled, like a part of me was missing.
I think most of that missing part was keeping in touch with the you folks
and that “belonging” to a crew feeling.
On the other hand I felt more aware of my surroundings, less distracted
and a little bit more patient.
It made me remember the distant days without this technology,
the 80's and part of the 90's.
Do you remember those days with gigantic cord phones?
Anyway, so on this holiday I got lost in adventure,
I let a great part of me be guided into what to do or go next,
by instinct rather than google maps, mobile interruptions,
or the cyber facebook buzz to distract me from the "Now"…
Just as when I was a kid.
I found myself pretty relaxed. More focused.
It seems like I "took in" more of the good feeling of travelling
without my beloved gadgets.
So dedicated to spending some time "disconnected",
and travelling, here is my new painting titled…
" Wherever I may roam... "
But without roaming charges ;-)
I hope you enjoy it,
Nagualero
