The medieval town of Saint-Cirq Lapopie, which has 13 historical monuments, is one of the most beautiful villages in France. Perched on a cliff 100 meters above the Lot, Saint-Cirq Lapopie is one of the major sites in the Lot valley. Capital of one of the three Viscounts of Quercy, Saint-Cirq Lapopie was divided in the Middle Ages between several feudal dynasties including the dominant families of Lapopie, Gourdon and Cardaillac.
