After having worked with the material for a long time by shaping characters corseted with leather,
coated with glue and pigments, sometimes costumed and inserted in boxes or altarpieces,
or masks with hairstyles decorated with shells and rusty metal, Danièle Bernades
abandoning relief and nostalgic for the force of contrasts, turns to 'trompe-l-oeil'
or realism with harsh light swept by shadow.
This "passage" subsequently allowed him to reconcile the two techniques by working on
canvases, these coated with the previous composition (glue and pigments) therefore matt and
rough, look like old walls with ancient remains, but meticulously painted in oil
of trompe l'oeil and signifying a tangible reality.
"This world thus delivered is a baroque, poetic world, everything is illusion, ambiguity"
