Paolo Avanzi nasce a Rosolina (RO) nel 1958. Risiede a Bresso (Mi).
Laureato in Psicologia. Approda alle arte figurative, dopo esperienze in ambiti diversificati, dallo studio del pianoforte alla scrittura di racconti e romanzi.
Le sua produzione iniziale è di tipo polimaterico (utilizzo di plastiche e smalti) e privilegia l’informale.
Nel 2004 effettua la sua prima personale nel Museo Sandretto di Pont Canavese.
Dal 2006 si indirizza verso un figurativo di tipo sperimentale che risente di queste esperienze informali.
Nel 2007 partecipa alle Fiere d’arte internazionali di Miami. New York e Seoul.
Negli anni successivi consolida la propria esperienza nelle maggiori fiere d’arte nazionali. Tra le innumerevoli personali citiamo quelle presso Galleria Arte Capital di Brescia, Museo U. Mastroianni di Marino, Pinacoteca comunale di S. Michele Salentino, Galleria Emmediarte di Milano e Galleria Centro Arte Moderna di Pisa.
Il suo stile è caratterizzato da un processo di frammentazione e deformazione della figura che viene percepita come attraverso uno specchio deformante.
Negli ultimi anni ha pubblicato un romanzo e alcune raccolte di racconti. Di recente ha pubblicato le raccolte di poesie “Confessioni apocrife” e “Punti di vita diversi”.
