I am Dominique, a painter based in Amsterdam. I work mostly with oil paint on canvas paper. In my paintings, I try to explore the violent clash between the internal experience of an individual and the external reality of the world. I am interested in the way that information floods our senses and the attempts of our conscious and subconscious minds to make sense of the chaos. My paintings include abstract and figurative elements. I use oil paint on paper for most of my paintings. I'm always discovering new techniques to spice up my art. I use thick brushstrokes and transparent layers of paint to create different textures on the canvas. My work often includes visual elements such as water ripples, light patterns and thick swirling layers of paint.
