Abstract images are combined with semi realistic flowers in a vase creating unique still life. The black leaves or accents give the piece a vertical movement which breaks up the overall design and gives the viewer's eyes a place to rest. This piece is bombarded by bold neon colors, the flavor of Mexicans historic and contemporary art culture.

TECHNIQUE: My background is in ceramics and graphic design and some traditional painting. To make a strong and unique statement I combine strong hard edge graphic images with traditional impressionistic painterly technique using acrylics. I use ink dispatched with a pen to get strong black and white images. This unique technique combines my (1) ceramic background of design, (2) strong graphic design from music posters and graffiti artists and (3) Mexican folk art (4) the love of just painting.
MATERIALS: Some of the art is created on stretched canvas and others on a slick white paper. Use acrylics, ink, house paint, neon paint, and whatever works.
SUBJECT MATTER: Love flowers, birds, cats, Christian symbols and strong Graphic images all combined to create a unique artistic expression. I also love abstract art, no specific subject matter, but lots of texture. Color is created using acrylics, ink, house paint etc. Of course, movement is important to add to that all important drama. Abstract images allow the viewer to interpret its meaning so these paintings are not literal.
COLOR: For me personally the brighter the better. Some colors are saturated, others faintly cover the canvas. I love neon colors. Color choice depends on the subject matter, however, I like to experiment. I love the vibrant colors of Mexico, reds, blues, yellows they make my heart sing.
REALISM vs IMPRESSIONISM: If you want realism take a photograph. I prefer the impression of the object, how does this image make you feel? I strive for happiness. I strive for a strong image that captures the imagination and draws you into the subject matter to take an investigative look.
