This is the second artwork where I experimented with the movement of hair in the wind. I tried warm colours for the hair highlights this time and incorporated oil pastels and acrylic paint markers. This is the second artwork where I experimented with the movement of hair in the wind. I tried warm colours for the hair highlights this time and incorporated oil pastels and acrylic paint markers. It was also the first time ever that a figure in my art wears make-up which was a lot of fun to do.

For this artwork, I drew inspiration from a warm breezy summer afternoon spent in a garden. Every time I look at this portrait, I visualize what it's like to be the girl, also closing my eyes and just taking a deep breath. Even if I'm not in a garden like in the portrait, it reminds me to stop, relax and be mindful of the present.

Firstly, I drew the design on cardboard and then I used oil pastels to colour the face, lips, and eyeshadow. I then added the earring, mascara, and eyeliner with acrylic paint markers. After that, I applied the clay (play dough) with my index finger and spread it out. I used a toothpick to carve out the lines in the clay which took me two months (granted I didn't work on this art piece every day). After all the carving was done as well as the finer details, I finished the artwork off with two layers of varnish which give it its shine.

I also produce beaded jewellery, acrylic paintings, digital art prints, paint pouring works, and a few ceramic works. I've held a workshop about creating mosaics in South Africa in 2017 and I've been commissioned a few times to make mosaic artworks for clients.
