PROFILE
Betty Jonker
b. Alphen a/d Rijn, working in Emmen, the Netherlands
Betty Jonker picked up her brush and palette at a young age. She began her artistic career as a drawing instructor, and was the co-owner of an advertising consultancy for twenty-five years, where she designed for national and international organisations. In 2001, she decided to bid farewell to the world of advertising, and once again had more time to focus on painting.
Initially, she worked exclusively in oils, but by shifting to acrylics she developed an entirely new style. This style is a confluence/merging of impressionism and expressionism. Betty Jonker's work impresses by a bold style and extraordinary use of color. She paints with a sure and confident hand. Her work shows a background of experience in compositon and color placement.
"My acrylic paintings are characterized by an abundance of color and a cheerful dynamic. I usually use contrasting colors. There are often deeper layers of my paintings.
My painting style is not to be categorized under a particular art movement, there is a mix of Fauvism, Impressionism, Expressionism and Postmodernism. The word "colorist" applies to me. "
Her interpretations, executed in deft brushstrokes, create vibrant impressions of abstract flowers, people, landscapes and animals with a playful nod to human relationships. Betty Jonker exhibits at home and abroad.
Betty is a founding member of the dutch Florence Biennale artists, jury member of the international selection committee for World Art Vision, Cancun, Mexico and the Elephant Parade, Emmen.

In June 2008, 14 PFL artists including Betty Jonker, have the opportunity to exhibit their works at the Artemisia Art gallery offered to the artists by the owner Mirella Setzu, in a city famous worldwide for the quality of life: Monte-Carlo. The Gallery is centrally located in the heart of the Principality of Monaco between the Casinò, the Hotel de Paris and the Boulevard des Moulins.
To make our next Passion for Life event even more “fashionable” we have chosen to hold our exhibition during the height of the Season on the Côte d'Azur: 5 - 19 June 2008, with the inauguration on the evening of 5 June. This event will follow in the tradition of all other PFL events, where fundraising for a local charity plays an essential role.
The Passion for lif-art exhibitions are events in the larger sense of the word. The charity evenings, the conferences, the awareness-making form part of Antoine Gaber’s international level campaign to sustain the fight against cancer.

Biënnale in Florence
Betty Jonker, geboren Alphen a/d Rijn, woont en schildert in Emmen
Aanvankelijk schilderde Betty Jonker alleen in olieverf.
