THIS PIECE IS CURRENTLY IN THE FIRST FRIDAY SHOW AT THE ROMAINE BROOKS GALLERY JUNE 6th from 5pm to 9pm, 332 Hudson Avenue in ALBANY NY
What makes the item so interesting is that the painter uses natural inks, stains and dyes made from plants, leaves, barks, even fruits that he makes himself to add in creating each piece of wall art. This specific item has coffee, cinnamon, vanilla and coa coa to name a few. There is even a special process to protect the living parts of the piece to not foil the intense color and unique staining allowing it to last as is forever.
An original work from the artist's 2008 Legends Series. The piece depicts the legendary figure Lilith. For those of you not familiar with her story; before Eve there was Lilith, Adam's twin sister. Adam and Lilith were both created from clay and soil as equals to care for and enjoy the Garden of Eden. As the Legend goes, Adam then told Lilith he would be the one in charge and she would simply bear his children. Lilith tried to reason with him and remind him that they were equals - none to rule over the other but to share in the responsibility and joys of reward. Adam would have none of it. Afraid for her life she left the garden where an angel was assigned to watch over her. To ease his loneliness a more subservient Eve was created for Adam. Later the Angel would fall in love with Lilith and become mortal to be her spouse. For generations her legendary figure has served as a symbol and source of inspiration to the independent, self reliant and strong
wanting fairness and equality in all things.
