Number 19 from “A Story in silico”. Number 19 from “A Story in silico”. The title refers to the opening description of schizophrenia in a textbook published in 1949: Curran C. et al: Psychological Medicine (3rd Ed.): this is historically interesting since it notes a change of professional terminology from “dementia praecox” to “schizophrenia”: “there is complete agreement that the onset in these psychoses need not necessarily be early (praecox) nor need the outcome be a dementia” (p.114). The image is based upon an historical, film interview presented by Heinz Lehmann (National Film Board of Canada) showing simple schizophrenia, and is interesting partly for the personal interaction between Lehmann and the young female patient in addition to his commentary. The work is related by subject matter to work No.44 in the Harajuku Series: “A Convenient Case Of Amnesia….”.
