Malevich created a picture, the only and main character of which was a black square. This was in 1913. And the direction was called Suprematism - the dominance of color over all other aspects of painting, the combination of color with the simplest geometric shapes.
The history of the creation of the "Black Square" has different versions. It was said that a dark square on a white canvas owes its appearance to the creative anger of the artist, who thus covered up a work that did not suit him. And this was the principled position of the author - the creation of black without black.
Having finished work on the picture, the artist was so shocked that he fell ill. Nervous tension struck down the exhausted organism. He realized that his "Black Square" symbolizes the final formation of a special direction in painting. This was later understood by other contemporaries close to art. And although many critics were very skeptical about the premiere of this picture, subsequently
The idea of creating a black painting is not new, but I wanted to do it my own way. And frankly, she really attracts the eye. I used four colors to create the background, and everything on top is not only black. Everything seems to be simple, but it looks so complicated that you want to consider it again and again.
