This still life was done from life observation in the alla prima technique. I was inspired by the beauty and vibrancy of the colours in the oranges and I tried to depict this in my composition. I really like the textural qualities and the volume in this piece. My favourite part in the cross sectional depiction of the orange cut in half arranged in two different positions since it shows a lot of texture, detail and adds interest to the composition. I also see a sense of volume in the glass or fresh orange juice. This piece will make a warm and lovely composition for a kitchen or dining room.

Born on the 31st August, 1981 and is from Qormi, Malta.   Art is her passion! She is fascinated by colours and the harmony they bring into a composition.  

Her formal art tuition started in 2007 at the Malta Society of Arts, after which she started attending the Malta School of Arts, in 2008. She successfully completed the Foundation programme, and then proceeded with the course of Diploma in Fine Arts (2010 – 2014).  She completed this course successfully and has been awarded with a Diploma in Fine Arts in Painting in June 2015. She continues to further her skills and techniques by taking regular physical and online courses.

Oil is her favourite medium, however she loves  painting with acrylic, watercolours and also with soft pastels.  She derives inspiration mostly from nature.  Whilst painting in her studio she prefers to work with some inspiring musical pieces by various artists namely Ludovico Einaudi which is her favourite, but also Andrea Vanzo and Hans Zimmer.  This creates the perfect ambience as she shuts off from the outer world and immerses herself into the magical world of art.
