Alexandru Balanescu, a contemporary Romanian artist, embarked on a multifaceted artistic journey that blends a foundation in cybernetics and electronic engineering with a profound passion for painting. Beginning his academic pursuit at the University of Bucharest, he delved into the realms of cybernetics and electronic engineering, culminating in a Ph.D. from the University of Bremen in Germany. In tandem with this scientific trajectory, Balanescu augmented his artistic education with a series of lessons at the private Art School in Bucharest, aptly named Rembrandt.
Beyond the structured art education, Balanescu identifies as a late disciple of van Gogh and humorously deems himself an unofficial descendant of Picasso. His artistic affinity lies in the impression of colors and forms, whether manifested in realistic or abstract paintings. With a prolific output exceeding 300 artworks, Balanescu's creative mission is to convey magical energy through expressive colors and forms, fostering a connection between his art and the viewer.
Balanescu's distinctive style, which he terms Geometric Cubism, represents a continuation of Picasso's and Braque's Cubism, accentuating a more natural geometry. His work stands as a testament to the fusion of artistic movements, creating a visual language that bridges tradition with innovation.
The artist has garnered international recognition through participation in various painting contests, reaching finalist levels and achieving notable victories. In 2023, he secured first place in the 59th International contest of Artavita in Santa Barbara, a significant milestone in his career. Notable solo exhibitions include "Die Raben von Rabenstein" at Rabenstein Castle in the Bavarian Forest, Germany, and "The Harmony of Colours" in Deva, Romania, both held in 2023. Balanescu's global presence extended to the London Art Biennale in 2021, where he was selected among 450 artists from 60 countries.
His artworks, featuring prominently in international art catalogues in England and Monaco in 2020, underscore Balanescu's standing in the global art community. Through his mastery of Geometric Cubism and the convergence of diverse artistic influences, Alexandru Balanescu continues to contribute vibrantly to the contemporary art scene.
