Né en 1974, Xavier Dumoulin a remporté de nombreux prix dont le Prix Dahinden, Hiiibrand Photography (Chine), Photocollection, Open show Paris...
Ses photos sont régulièrement exposées. En 2022, il a pu bénéficier d’une exposition personnelle au Centre d’Art de Pau, Le Bel Ordinaire, en collaboration avec la région Nouvelle Aquitaine avec la série « Tropique des Pyrénées ». Il a également réalisé un solo show au Grand Palais éphémère pour Paris Photo 2022 avec la série « Incandescences ». Il exposait la même année cette série à l’académie du climat à Paris. Son travail a fait l’objet de plusieurs publications notamment dans Polka magazine pour illustrer la COP21. Ses images servent aussi à la communi- cation sur la préservation du climat avec une publicité pour earthday network dirigée par Young & Rubicam New York.
Photographe palois, Xavier Dumoulin développe sa production artistique sur les problématiques environnementales actuelles : pollution lumineuse, mondialisation, changements climatiques. Témoin de l’impact de notre activité sur l’écosystème et des évolutions rapides de nos paysages et de notre environnement, Xavier Dumoulin va au-delà d’un constat tragique.
Xavier Dumoulin est très attaché à la poésie qui se dégage d’une image, au minimalisme et à une certaine esthétique qui singularisent ses images. En sortant du réel pour mieux en souligner le sens, il cherche à éveiller l’imaginaire du spectateur, à créer chez lui un manque qu’il pourra lui-même combler en le rendant acteur face à une photographie. Plutôt que choquer et montrer une réalité crue sans appel, il préfère suggérer et semer une graine qui sera plus durable.
