Daniele Masini è nato il 1° febbraio 1951 a Forlì. Nel 1973, dopo aver frequentato l’Istituto d’Arte di Forlì, si è diplomato in Scenografia all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna, dal 1975 ha insegnato pittura e tecniche calcografiche presso il Liceo Artistico Canova di Forli.
La formazione di scenografo dell’artista appare evidente nelle tele di grandi dimensioni, strutturate in modo da evocare battaglie “medioevali”, in un linguaggio di masse in movimento e geometrie prospettiche. L’impressione che si ha però, come ben sottolinea Nicola Micieli, «non è d’una scatola scenica, un contenitore, ma di un organismo che partecipa all’azione facendosi angusto e direi incalzante per secondare il corpo in espansione, contraendosi ed estendendosi elasticamente ai suoi vigorosi movimenti. Non si pensi, dunque, a un trucchetto percettivo parato alla celebrazione retorica dell’uomo.
