Bursa'nın Gemlik ilçesinde doğan, Gazi Üniversitesi Meslek Eğitim Fakültesi Resim Ana Sanat Dalı'ndan 1987'de mezun olduktan sonra Ankara'da öğretmenliğe başlayan Sezgin, Milli Eğitim Bakanlığında resim dersi programlarının hazırlanmasında görev aldı.
Öğretmenliğe geri dönmesinin ardından geleneksel kat'ı sanatında yoğunlaşan Sezgin, Sinop'ta görev yaptığı dönemde İl Kültür ve Turizm Müdürlüğünün desteğiyle eserlerini uluslararası platforma taşıma fırsatı buldu. Kat'ı tekniğiyle yaptığı tablolar, Rusya'da bir fuarda sergilenen Sezgin, 35 yıl süren öğretmenlik yaşamının ardından emekliye ayrıldı.
Modern yorum kattığı eserlerinde ağırlıklı olarak doğa temasını işleyen 60 yaşındaki Sezgin, Ankara, İzmir ve Antalya gibi büyükşehirlerde kişisel ve karma sergilere katılarak geleneksel sanatın tanıtılması ve yaşatılmasına katkı sağladı.
Eskişehir Sanat Derneğince geçen sene "Yılın Kadın Sanatçısı Ödülü" alan Sezgin, "bir motif veya desen örneğinin, ince bir kağıt ya da deriden oyulduktan sonra başka bir zemin üzerine yapıştırılması" olarak tanımlanan kat'ı tekniğinde bugüne kadar 50'ye yakın eser verdi.
