Yann Artès est un peintre contemporain autodidacte d'origine française . Ce parcours atypique lui a permis de conserver une certaine liberté dans la réalisation de ses oeuvres. Très tôt attiré par les légendes du Nord de l'Europe, et notamment par les récits mythologiques transcris au moyen âge par un dénommé Snorri Sturluson dans son livre l'Edda, il décide de se lancer dans la reproduction graphique de ces récits fantastiques. Ces œuvres sont réalisées sous forme de dessins et peintures, les premiers étant exécutés sur ordinateur et reproduits sur papier Canson 310 gr en série limitée de 100 exemplaires, les seconds sous forme de tableaux en panneaux de bois marouflé au plâtre, sculptés et gravés puis recouverts pour certaines parties à la feuille d'or, pour les autres à la peinture de type tempéra à l'œuf.
