Sampath Karunaratne is an artist who was always interested in creative even from his childhood days. His interest and influence were developed through his upbringing ion rural Sri Lankan where he studies fine arts for his secondary education. Once completed his school, he further studied his beloved field through the Cultural Arts University in 2002 where he subsequently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 2007.
His true potential was realized after he graduated from University when he shifted his interest more towards realism and architecture inspired art. The knowledge, attitude, patience, and skills he developed over the years has been a great inspiration to his artistic journey thus far.
Sampath is currently employed as an educator for art and his dedication to his beloved craft has not even diminished a bit. He has previously held several art exhibitions with several high-profile artists participating in, which was conducted by George Keyt Foundation in 2004. His skills and experience enable him to make creations in multiple mediums, but his preference is more towards Acrylics and Oils due to its versatility and ease of use. He also loves to create drawings on various subjects and shapes such as nature inspired subjects along with human and animal forms beautifully created on his canvasses.
