Gustavo Mañá nació en Tucumán, ciudad del norte argentino. Su niñez y juventud transcurrieron alternadamente entre la ciudad de Córdoba en la época invernal y largos veraneos en el campo, rodeado de naturaleza, paseos a caballo y tertulias musicales, actividades que serán motivo de inspiración para toda su vida.
Desde niño disfrutó de las historietas atraído por los maravillosos dibujos de Harold Foster y Hugo Pratt, e intentando emularlos comenzó a copiarlos. Su hermana mayor, artista plástica, viendo su talento natural lo incentivó en el estudio de la figura humana, enseñándole además las técnicas básicas de la representación artística. Luego asistió por un tiempo al taller de Pedro Pont Verges, afamado pintor cordobés, con el objeto de profundizar estos conocimientos.
En el año 1975 obtuvo el título de arquitecto en la Facultad de Arquitectura de Buenos Aires. Paralelamente se dedicó a la ilustración publicitaria llegando a contar con su propia agencia.
Su gusto por los perros y caballos lo impulsan a recrearlos en carbonilla, pluma y pastel sobre. Comenzando entonces una fructífera actividad artística participando en numerosas exposiciones individuales y colectivas en distintos ámbitos. Muchas de estas obras se encuentran en diversos lugares del mundo.
En el año 2017 es invitado a concurrir al taller del reconocido maestro Roger Mantegani, junto a quien logra encontrar un modo de expresión personal que muestra en cada una de sus obras.
En sus obras se destaca su predilección por el dibujo de la figura humana, representando distintas actividades propias del hombre con gran maestría.
