Romana Meissner wurde 1962 in der Tschechischen Republik geboren. 1970 emigrierte die Familie nach Deutschland. Die Erfahrung des Fremdseins ließ die Künstlerin früh in ihre eigene Welt eintauchen, in der das Malen und Zeichnen ein große Rolle spielte. Es half ihr, das quälende Heimweh und das Gefühl des Nicht-Dazu-Gehörens zu verarbeiten.
Im Erwachsenenalter vertiefte und erweiterte Romana Meissner ihre künstlerischen Fähigkeiten durch Selbststudium und zahlreiche Weiterbildungen im Malen, Zeichnen und Bildhauerei bei namhaften Künstlern.
Die Künstlerin studierte Anglistik und Theologie und arbeitete viele Jahre als Lehrerin und Dozentin. Die künstlerische Tätigkeit übte sie stets parallel dazu aus.
Romana Meissner malt überwiegend in Acryl, mischt manchmal Sand, Pigmente und gefundene Objekte der Farbe bei. Ihre Malerei ist informell, der Malprozess bildet den Mittelpunkt ihres Arbeitens, das Ergebnis ist meist offen.
Seit 2015 stellt Romana Meissner regelmäßig im In- und Ausland aus, seit 2020 ist sie frei schaffende Künstlerin im Hauptberuf. Ihre Werke befinden sich in privaten Sammlungen in Europa und den USA.
