Sándor Gergely is a Hungarian born painter, living in a secluded hamlet in the Northern region. He is one of the few realist painters in Hungary, with a growing interest in figurative painting. Texture is a crucial element in his artworks, he enjoys experimenting with different methods and materials to create a more realistic, lifelike backgrounds and textures. He uses several painting techniques in his artworks as he finds the best means to an end.
With his works, he wishes to illustrate the uniquenes and the inherent beauty of the subject matter, let it be a pair of boots, a bunch of grapes or a female body. With the background, organization and the subject itself he also aims to make the spectator stop for a moment and think about the story behind the theme. He builds upon their individual and diverse interpretation. He continues to perfect his skills in figurative painting and in the even more accurate reproduction of light-and-shadow and surface properties of the depicted objects and composition.
