Née en 1964, Cécile Coutant est une artiste peintre française. Elle débute sa carrière à Nantes en tant que créatrice de robes de mariées et de vêtements pour enfants. Elle poursuit dans cette voie à Lisbonne, où elle crée sa propre marque. De retour en France, elle s’installe à Paris, et débute une formation artistique à l'Atelier Libre des Peintres des Yvelines, et à l’atelier de Géraldine Gall. Par la suite, elle débute une formation en arts plastiques à la Sorbonne et crée son propre atelier.
Ses oeuvres puisent dans le vivant et la recherche des émotions. L’univers de l’artiste est marqué par l’expressionnisme, avec un travail sur les corps, jouant sur les contrastes et les couleurs. Elle privilégie les cadrages en très gros plan de visages humains ou de têtes d’animaux. Pour cette coloriste, il est non seulement urgent de peindre, mais tout aussi légitime d’être dans la sensualité et le chatoiement des couleurs. Elle cherche la confrontation avec la forme et provoque l’accident dans ses compositions pour se rattraper in-extremis.
