Née aux confins du pays flamand, Edith Verdickt découvre enfant, l’île d’Oléron, lors de ses vacances.
Formée à l'école des beaux arts de Valenciennes, après un passage à Paris ou elle travaille dans des studios de dessins publicitaires, elle revient sur l'Ile d'Oléron, et y installe définitivement ses chevalets et ses palettes.
Depuis, elle raconte, face au large, en lignes élancées et rageuses, l’éternel conflit de la terre et de l’eau, du vent et de la mer.
La couleur est prédominante dans ses tableaux. Peu importe le thème ils sont flamboyants.
Ses huiles sont travaillées au couteau et elle allie différentes techniques, y mêle la matière, jouant ainsi sur les transparences.
Du plus petit au plus grand format, on retrouve une toile vivante, on sent le vent qui souffle dans les voiles pour ses marines, le golfeur qui ajuste son geste, ou encore, dans ses dernières œuvres urbaines la ville en pleine effervescence.
