White Winter Monarchs (2020) 绘画 由 Gill Bustamante

White Winter Monarchs is a 40x40x1.5 inches large white original oil painting with deer and an owl in a snow covered winter forest. A big red deer stag stands to the left next to a pine tree and behind him is a doe. Over to the right flying between the trees is a white barn owl. The scene is set in a woodland clearing where thick snow lies on the ground leading though a patch of tall thin pine and birch trees. There is an exit in the middle of the painting that the creatures can lead you to or turn you away from. Both deer and owls are often found in folklore and are often credited with being spiritual guides or purveyors of wisdom. I am not sure of the truth of this but they are nevertheless beautiful creatures and do add something spiritual to landscapes. This painting is semi abstract and contemporary in style and began its life as an autumn landscape with deer. Now, however, it is a winter one as I wanted to mute down the oranges of autumn to make a white painting. Painted on wide edge canvas, white edges, no frame needed, ready to hang.
