Yeon-Gyeong Seo (Seo)
Seo
Seo is a self-taught Korean artist whose journey has been defined by resilience, passion, and an unwavering dedication to creative expression. From an early age, a single compliment on her painting The Field of Red Grape Vineyard by her elementary school teacher sparked a lifelong pursuit of art, guiding her through years of independent exploration and refinement.
Working primarily with oil paint, Seo delves into a diverse range of themes, including landscapes, still life, portraiture, and abstraction. Her art transcends conventional boundaries, venturing into surreal and symbolic realms to explore the intricacies of human existence, societal dynamics, and emotional depth. Inspired by philosophical concepts and the struggles that shape humanity, her work invites viewers to reflect on their own lives and the world around them.
Nature, as the ultimate genuine artist, profoundly influences Seo’s creations. She draws inspiration from its raw beauty, unyielding power, and infinite capacity for transformation, channeling these qualities into artworks that resonate with authenticity and meaning.
Guided by the philosophy of French artist Jean-François Millet, Seo embraces the beauty of everyday life with a raw honesty that bridges the gap between the ordinary and the extraordinary. Her art tells stories often overlooked in the commercial art world, offering a voice to emotions and experiences that challenge traditional narratives.
Despite the challenges of navigating an art market often driven by trends, Seo's works have found recognition and acclaim both in Korea and abroad. She has been awarded multiple times in over ten Korean art contests, a testament to her talent and perseverance.
In 2017, Seo's artistic journey reached new heights with collective exhibitions in Paris and Lyon, France—an experience that continues to inspire her growth and vision. For Seo, art is not only a medium of expression but also a bridge to understanding and connecting with the world.

International Exhibition Announcement
Loreta Larkina Art Studio, Venice, Italy
🎨 International Exhibition Announcement 🌍
I'm honored to share that I will be participating in the upcoming international art exhibition “In Search of Beauty” held at Loreta Larkina Art Studio, located in the heart of Venice, Italy – Campo del Ghetto Novo 2916.
🗓 Dates: July 26 – August 1, 2025
🌐 Venue: Loreta Larkina Art Studio, Venice, Italy
👩🎨 Artist: Yeon-gyeong Seo
This special invitation came directly from the gallery president, who suggested that I exhibit my work alongside his own — an incredible gesture that I deeply appreciate.
In the city of gondolas and golden light, where centuries of beauty whisper through every canal, I’ll be presenting four original paintings, each reflecting my journey of searching for meaning, contrast, and truth through the lens of color and form.
Venice, the cradle of timeless aesthetics, will host a dialogue between artists across cultures — and I’m truly grateful to be a part of it. 🌅🎭🖼️
A Letter from the Quiet Side of Recognition
“A Letter from the Quiet Side of Recognition”
(for Artmajeur, and for those who’ve ever felt belittled in silence)
Editor’s Pick Screenshot
To whom it may concern,
To the curators who decide what deserves to be seen,
To the ones who hand out recognition—sometimes thoughtfully, sometimes indifferently—
And to every artist who has been left unseen too long:
I want to share something—not as a complaint, but as a quiet truth.
I recently received 'Editor's Pick' recognition on Artmajeur, a year after I had uploaded 291 pieces ㅡapproximately 300 pieces of my artwork including photography.
On the surface, it might seem like a small joy, or even a milestone. But behind this modest badge, there’s a long silence. A silence that bruised something in me.
For years, I’ve uploaded my work with sincerity. Each painting was not just a visual—it was an emotional outcry, a metaphor, a reflection of the struggles and complexities of being human. I didn’t rush for popularity. I didn’t paint to impress. I painted to endure, to question, to breathe.
But what I received in return was indifference.
I watched new artists—some with only one or two pieces—immediately awarded Editor’s Pick, while I remained invisible. No feedback. No recognition. No basic technical support, like proper categorization of my work—while others enjoyed neatly divided portfolios and broader visibility. I wondered... was it my origin? My style? My silence?
And yet, I continued.
Because art is not a performance for applause—it’s an act of survival.
Then came the invitation to exhibit in Venice.
Suddenly, I was noticed.
Suddenly, I was picked.
But it didn’t feel like celebration—it felt like obligation.
As if my worth had to be confirmed elsewhere before it could be honored here.
That, I must say, is a quiet kind of hurt.
One that doesn’t scream. One that builds over timThis is not about vanity. I don’t need a spotlight. But I do believe in fairness, in consistency, in recognizing effort not just when it's externally validated, but when it comes from an authentic place.
So to Artmajeur—and to any platform that claims to support artists—I ask:
Please look deeper.
Not just at the trendy or the flashy. Not just at numbers or algorithms.
But at the quiet voices, the ones who endure in silence.
Because we are not seeking praise—we are seeking presence.
To those who feel similarly:
You are not alone.
You are not invisible.
Your work is not defined by someone else’s delay in recognizing it.
Art lives, even in the shadows.
And so do we.e—like dust in an empty gallery.

Congratulating Uploded 100 Pieces
Despite the challenges I've faced, I have finally uploaded 100(+1) pieces of my artwork at Artmajeur gallery. This achievement may stand alone, but I still take a moment to congratulate myself...
Season's Greetings and a Joyful New Year!

Thank you for being a part of my artistic journey.

Yeon-Gyeong Seo(Seo)
