Wilfrid Moizan comes from a family of artists. After spending his childhood in Côtes-d'Armor, he entered the Rennes School of Fine Arts, where he earned his DNAP (National Diploma of Fine Arts), then obtained a degree in visual arts from the Villejean campus. In 1996, he earned his CAPES (teaching certificate) in art and became a teacher. He moved to Guadeloupe in 2001, then settled in Saint-Martin in 2006.
From his childhood on the Breton coast, he retains a taste for mists and the fine rain that blurs reality. This idea of a veil is reflected in his practice, made up of successive layers and superimpositions that play on disappearance and appearance.
From his life in the Antilles, he retains a love of color and a particular relationship with light. The characters he portrays are most often alone in spaces that evoke the island, an inner refuge.
Blending travel memories, family photos, winter landscapes, and lush forests, he creates a fusion of spaces bordering on the dreamlike. What is at stake is the fragility of existence.
