In Pilgrimage, Antaki continues his practice of engaging strangers as subjects, inviting them to tell the story of the moment, all captured within minutes. The resulting images offer a window into a world where community and connection are paramount. In a time when international travel was severely restricted and people were unable to connect with each other in person, Antaki's work reminded us of the beauty and importance of human interaction. He highlights the individuality and uniqueness of people from different cultures, while also emphasizing the commonalities that bind us all together as members of the human family.

Vladimir Antaki, born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1980, is a visual artist whose artistic career began in Paris. Driven by a deep love of the arts, Antaki immersed himself in art history and film studies at La Sorbonne, nurturing his passion and enriching his knowledge. In 2003, he broadened his artistic horizons by obtaining a bachelor's degree in visual and media arts in Montreal, Canada. Antaki's work often pays homage to people, bygone eras and forgotten trades, capturing their unchanging spirit and preserving their heritage. He focuses on cultural memory, diversity and human connections, using his art as a means of expression and conservation. In 2019, the publication of the monograph "The Guardians" by Kehrer Verlag, with a preface by Edward Burtynsky, highlighted his commitment to historical and cultural preservation. This work pays tribute to the craftsmen and tradesmen, the Guardians of the urban temples. "Parfums d'Orient", currently on show at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, offers an immersion into the perfume souks of the Sultanate of Oman through a visual and sound installation of life-size portraits of seven Guardians. The exhibition will travel to Riyadh in the summer of 2024, strengthening its international presence. A solo exhibition of "The Guardians" is also planned for the autumn at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Tourcoing.
