LucSculpture, 663 Greenwood Avenue

Tuesday 16 November 2010
Tuesday 21 December 2010

Encaustic is the ancient art of painting with pigmented melted beeswax. My comprehensive Encaustic workshops give artists a thorough knowledge of the Encaustic medium and method - from the classical to the experimental. Artists with backgrounds in any medium will find these workshops are an exciting opportunity to expand their visual vocabulary with wax. However, no artistic ability is required to produce uniquely beautiful Encaustic artwork.

During the six weeks of this Encaustic Course, you’ll learn about:

 The history of Encaustic  Safety issues with Encaustic tools and media
 Encaustic waxes, media and materials used
 The use of Washi, Hand-made Japanese Paper, with the Encaustic medium
 Encaustic techniques including: tools, layering, scraping/scribing, use of stencils, collage, image transfer, monotypes, carving and more.

All materials, tools and equipment will be supplied by the artist for $150, plus $165 for the 6 week course, totalling $315 per person, plus HST, payable in advance at Lucsculpture. To reserve your seat in the course, please register early.
