1981 yılında Ermenistan'da doğan Atom Hovhanesyan, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri'nde yaşamış ve çalışmış bir sanatçıdır. Küçük yaşlardan itibaren sanat kariyerini şekillendiren büyük duyarlılık ve merak niteliklerini gösterdi. Cezayir ve Ermenistan arasında geçen bir çocukluğun ardından 1997 yılında ailesiyle birlikte Amerika Birleşik Devletleri'ne göç etti.
Başlangıçta kendi kendini yetiştirmiş, resim ve çizim tutkusunu De Kooning ve Kandinsky gibi modern ustalardan etkilenerek geliştirmiştir. Atom, soyutlamayı, figürasyonu ve neo-empresyonizmi birleştirerek benzersiz tarzını mükemmelleştiriyor. Esas olarak tuval üzerine yağlıboya ve kağıt üzerine tükenmez kalem kullanıyor; bu araçlar aracılığıyla derin ve duygusal temaları araştırıyor.
2013-2017 yılları arasında New York Ulusal Akademisi ve Sanat Öğrencileri Birliği'nde Michael Grimaldi, Thomas Torak ve Dan Thompson yönetiminde sanat eğitimine devam etti. Çalışmaları, neo-empresyonizm teorilerinden ilham alırken, soyutlama ve figürasyonun birleşimiyle öne çıkıyor. Hovhanesyan, 2018'de trajik bir şekilde vefat etmeden önce 250'den fazla eser yarattı ve geride hassasiyet ve teknik ustalığın damgasını vurduğu sanatsal bir miras bıraktı.
